Why Attend the EMS Meeting?
The Environmental Mutagen Society is the primary professional society for scientists involved in research into the causes and consequences of damage to the genome and epigenome in order to inform and support national and international efforts to ensure a healthy, sustainable environment for future generations. The Society, and the Annual Meeting, are unique in bringing together scientists carrying out basic research with those involved in risk estimation and regulatory concerns related to the consequences of exposure to environmental and pharmaceutical agents. The result is a dynamic meeting that is sufficiently large enough to cover a broad range of contemporary topics yet focused and small enough to facilitate interactions between students and renowned scientists in academia, government, and industry.
The theme of the 41st Annual EMS Meeting is "Complex Systems in Biology and Risk Assessment." The goal of this meeting is to provide a broad scientific forum for basic and applied researchers, students and teachers to; (i) review the latest information linking environmental conditions to adverse health outcomes, (ii) develop a better understanding of the complex biological processes ranging from the systemic to the molecular level that underlie adverse health outcomes, (iii) identify missing information needed to develop appropriate multiparametric models of health effects that can provide guidance for risk reduction, and (iv) provide career development support for students and early-career scientists.
