EMGS Committees
The Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EMGS) has a number of committees which are populated by EMGS Members. Participation at the committee level is a great opportunity to get involved with EMGS and engage with the leadership. EMGS committees have contributed significantly to the growth of EMGS through their oversight and development of new programs.
Becoming involved with a committee is simple. If your are interested in serving on a committee please contact EMGS Headquarters or the committee chairperson.

The Awards and Honors Committee is
responsible for choosing the annual EMGS awardees (EMGS Award, Alexander
Hollaender Award, EMGS Service Award, Student and New Investigator Travel
Awards, and the Alexander Hollaender Student Travel Award).
The Education, Student and New Investigator Affairs
Committee develops programming and makes recommendations to promote maximal
participation of students and new investigators in EMGS activities.
The Finance and Resource Committee advises the Treasurer on financial policies
and reviews budgetary activities.
The mission of the Alexander Hollaender Outreach Committee is to
broaden the opportunities in mutagenesis research internationally for scientists
and students from countries where such opportunities are historically
underrepresented through planning, promoting, and teaching courses on
pertinent subjects throughout the world.
Recruitment and retention, the charge of the Membership and
Professional Development Committee, is accomplished through innovative
programs like the Special Interest Groups to promote interactions between EMGS
members, and mentoring to facilitate successful career development.
The Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying and
recruiting candidates to stand for election to President, Secretary, Treasurer,
ICEM Board, and EMGS council.
The Program Committee plans and sets the program for the upcoming annual
meeting.
The Public Relations and Communications Committee is the key to EMGS communication: we publish the popular
Winter and Summer Newsletters describing our activities with abundant photos at
each annual meeting and preparing for the next annual meeting.
The Publication Policy Committee focuses
on Policies of the Society's publications, Environmental Molecular Mutagenesis
(EMM). The Committee provides advice and oversight to
the Editor and EMGS Executive Board on publication policy issues.
