Environmental Genetic Toxicology SIG Agenda for Breakfast:
1. Lecture & Discussion: Realizing the Value of Indicator Species in Human Health Studies. Presenter - Nathaniel Hitt, USGS Leetown Science Center.
2. Lecture & Discussion: Next-Generation DNA Sequencing in Ecotoxicology Studies. Presenter (to be confirmed) Travis Glenn, University of Georgia, Environmental Health Science.
3. Election of SIG co-Chair (Somers stepping down).
Nathaniel Hitt has published some very interesting and thought-provoking work on the correlations between biodiversity and human cancer rates, making a direct link between ecosystem and human health. Travis Glenn is a recognized expert in molecular ecology, ecotoxicology, and DNA sequencing; he will provide his perspective on applications of new technologies in this rapidly expanding field.
