We have a marvelous program planned for you. This year’s guest speaker is Sonja Rasmussen, MD, currently Acting Director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Rasmussen received her MD with honors from the University of Florida, College of Medicine; she is board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, and Genetic Counseling. Dr. Rasmussen served previously as Deputy Director, Influenza Coordination Unit, and prior to that, as senior scientist in the Division of Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, CDC. Her talk, entitled "Protecting Pregnant Women and their Babies from Seasonal and Pandemic Influenza,” draws from her long-held passion for women’s and children’s health. Dr. Rasmussen is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing her achievements in promoting women’s health; she has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications and 12 book chapters. There will be time for networking, and valuable opportunities for interacting with Dr. Rasmussen before and during the luncheon.
