Former EMGS President Gains American Academy of Arts and Sciences for 2021 Honors

This week 252 new members were elected to The American Academy of Arts & Sciences. We are thrilled to announce that among those newly elected individuals was one of our own, Dr. Leona Samson. Dr. Samson served as EMGS President from 2004 to 2005. She is currently a professor of biological engineering and biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Samson on achieving this incredible honor.

Once established in 1780, The Academy provided younger generations the needed push to help solve the world's problems. Since its conception, The Academy has elected many familiar faces such as Alexander Hamilton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, and Anthony Fauci. The American Academy of Arts & Sciences elects individuals who are accomplished in their respective fields and dedicated to advancing the public good.
