Environmental Health Sciences Bridging the Gap between
Exposure, Mechanism and Public Health

Welcome

The EMGS welcomes members and attendees from across the US and around the world. Our diversity is essential to our success, and as your national professional society, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive forum for the communication of world-class science. The EMGS Diversity and Inclusion committee sends a special welcome to members of the LGBT community.  Please reach out to any member of the EMGS Diversity and Inclusion Committee with your comments or concerns.

Exhibitor Information

Table Top Exhibits

Table Top Exhibits will be open Saturday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Exhibitors will feature state-of-the-art products and services related to the advancement of research within mutagenesis, genomics, imaging, and related areas. At the exhibits, scientists will have a first-hand opportunity to talk with exhibitors and examine and learn about the products and services they offer. Please note that exhibitors who also provide sponsor support will be recognized at the sponsor level that reflects their combined sponsor amount and their exhibit fee. The fee to exhibit at the meeting is $1,000. Space will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis and is limited, so reserve your table top location now!

Benefits of Exhibiting

The Annual Meeting brings together scientists, administrators, and managers from industry, academia, government, and regulatory agencies to share the latest developments in genetic mutagenesis. Attendees represent the disciplines of genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, in vitro toxicology, alternatives to animal testing, and risk assessment.

The purpose of EMGS is to promote basic and applied studies of mutagenesis (the area of genetics dealing with mutation) and the detection of environmental mutagens. EMGS has four core goals which are:

  • Provide a broad scientific forum for basic and applied researchers, students and teachers to (1) share current scientific research and integrate knowledge on detection and characterization of DNA damage from exposure to man-made or natural toxins in the environment, the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair processes that respond to such damage, and the mechanisms of heritable changes (both mutagenic and epigenetic) that occur when damage persists; (2) understand how genomic and environmental factors interact to determine an individual’s susceptibility to adverse health effects and transgenerational defects from such exposure; (3) apply this knowledge to assess the risks for adverse health consequences and damage to the biota from environmental toxins.
  • Support responsible social and scientific policies by informing the public and by providing recommendations and guidelines to national and international agencies that regulate genome-damaging agents to minimize human and environmental risks.
  • Advance basic and applied genome toxicity research by advocating for research support.
  • Maintain a diverse membership that fosters and supports scientific interactions among scientists worldwide across academia, government, and industry who are engaged in genome/epigenome toxicity research and its regulatory applications.
