Hotel and Housing
The EMGS will host its 50th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, September 19–23, 2019. The majority of the meeting will be held at the Capital Hilton Washington, DC, at 1001 16th Street NW, Washington DC, 20036. There are three workshops scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 19. Please note that these workshops do require separate registration. The Annual Meeting will open with the President’s Welcome Reception at 5:30 pm on Thursday, September 19.

Yes. EMGS encourages attendee participation through the form of various presentations. Submitted abstracts can be chosen for Symposia, Platform, or Poster Presentations. Details for abstract submissions can be found here. Please remember that the abstract submission deadline is May 1, 2019.
Register for the meeting through the EMGS Meeting's Website. Please note that registration for 2019's Annual Meeting in Washington DC will not begin until February 20, 2019.
Membership is certainly not a requirement to attend any annual meeting. With that said, the association does suggest anyone interested in attending the meeting to become a member in order to take advantage of the lower registration rates, sponsor abstracts, and enjoy the many benefits of being an EMGS member, including opportunities to collaborate with fellow members and engage in leadership activities within the association, and last but not least the ability to keep current with society activities through EMGS Connect .
The registration fee for the EMGS 2019 Annual Meeting includes:
- Admission to all scientific sessions
- Annual Meeting program
- Free electronic access to all abstracts
- Thursday President’s Welcome Reception
- Annual Banquet
- Refreshment breaks
Separate registration is required for the Thursday Workshops.
Yes. Online registrations will receive email confirmation shortly after being submitted. Faxed and mailed registrations will receive confirmation via email as soon as they are processed.
All registration materials will be available online before the meeting. Annual Meeting registrants will receive an email alerting them that the materials are available. Only those registered for the meeting will have access to the Annual Meeting materials.
Attendees are required to wear a badge for all Annual Meeting sessions and events. Badges can be picked up at the registration desk during the posted registration hours.
Yes, onsite registration is available. You can register online before you stop by the registration desk, print out a registration form and bring it with you, or complete a registration form available at the registration desk.
Refunds for cancellations must be submitted in writing and emailed to the EMGS Headquarters. There is a $40 fee for cancellation of the meeting registration before August 15, 2019. No refunds will be issued after August 15, 2019. Registrants who do not cancel prior to August 15, 2019 and do not attend will be responsible for the full registration fee.
Registrants unable to attend the conference may send an alternate. Email the EMGS headquarters office at email@example.com. A service fee of $40 will be charged for each substitution. Substitutions must be received by August 15, 2018. Participants will be responsible for the fee.
Attendees who need a certificate of attendance should send a formal request to the firstname.lastname@example.org no later than October 2, 2019. Please make sure to include any specific required text, such as abstract presentation information. Attendees will be able to pick up their certificate of attendance at the registration desk when they pick up their badge.
To get EMGS Annual Meeting rates, please use the web links provided on the Hotel Information Page. Please use the attendee link unless you are a government employee or student. Those making government or student reservations will be required to show the appropriate identification upon check- in. Note that EMGS hotel reservation requests will be open on February 20, 2019 and will be accepted until August 21, 2019.
The closet airport is the Ronald Reagan International Airport and it is approximately 20 minutes away from the Capital Hilton Washington DC.
Ground transportation provided at the Ronald Reagan International Airport includes taxi service and Super Shuttle. Cab fare is approximately $20.
The Capital Hilton provides valet parking directly across from the hotel at $60 per day. Self-parking is not available; however, there are numerous lots which are both covered and secured within walking distance of the Capital Hilton.
