When and where is the EMGS 2023 Annual Meeting?
The EMGS will host its 54th Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, September 9-13, 2023, at the Palmer House Hilton. There are two workshops scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 9th. Please note that these workshops do require separate registration.
Who attends the Annual Meeting?
Academic, industrial, and governmental scientists interested in how environmental factors lead to genotoxicity and persistent adverse health effects.
Can I present my research at the Annual Meeting?
Yes. EMGS encourages attendee participation through the form of various presentations. Submitted abstracts can be chosen for Symposia, Platform, or Poster Presentations. Details for abstract submissions can be found here. Please remember that the abstract submission deadline is May 15, 2023.
How do I register for the Annual Meeting?

Do I have to be a member of EMGS to attend the Annual Meeting?
Membership is certainly not a requirement to attend any annual meeting. However, we do suggest that anyone interested in attending the meeting should become a member. Members enjoy lower registration rates, are able to sponsor abstracts, and receive many other benefits including opportunities to collaborate with fellow members, engage in leadership activities within the association and keep current with society activities.
What does Annual Meeting registration include?
Registration for the EMGS 2023 Annual Meeting includes:
- Admission to all scientific sessions
- Annual Meeting program
- Free electronic access to all abstracts and the virtual poster gallery
- The EMGS Banquet on Tuesday, September 12th
- Refreshment breaks
Separate registration is required for the Workshops on Saturday, September 9th.
Will I receive written confirmation of my registration?
Yes. Online registrations will receive email confirmation shortly after being submitted. Faxed and mailed registrations will receive confirmation via email as soon as they are processed.
When/where will I get my Annual Meeting materials?
All registration materials will be available online before the meeting. Annual Meeting registrants will receive an email alerting them that the materials are available. Only those registered for the meeting will have access to the Annual Meeting materials.
Where/when do I pick up my Annual Meeting Badge?
Attendees are required to wear a badge for all Annual Meeting sessions and events. Badges can be picked up at the registration desk during the posted registration hours.
Can I register at the meeting?
Yes, onsite registration will be available at the registration desk. Please note that the fee for registration will be higher onsite. You can register online now here.
What is your cancellation policy?
Requests for a cancellation refund must be submitted in writing and emailed to the EMGS Headquarters. There is a $40 fee for cancellation of the Meeting Registration before August 15, 2023. No refunds will be issued after August 15, 2023. Registrants who do not cancel prior to August 15, 2023. and who do not attend, will not receive a refund.
What is your substitution policy?
Registrants unable to attend the conference may send an alternate. A service fee of $40 will be charged for each substitution. Substitutions must be received by August 15, 2023. Participants will be responsible for the fee. Email the EMGS headquarters office at emgshq@emsg-us.org.
Can I get a certificate of attendance?
Attendees who need a certificate of attendance should send a formal request to the emgshq@emsg-us.org. Please make sure to include any specific required text, such as abstract presentation information. Certificates will be emailed to you within 2 weeks after the annual meeting.
How do I make my hotel reservation?
To get EMGS Annual Meeting rates, please use the web links provided on the Hotel Information Page. Please use the attendee link unless you are a government employee or student. Those making government or student reservations will be required to show the appropriate identification upon check- in. Note that EMGS hotel reservation requests will be accepted until August 12, 2023.
Where is the closest airport?
Chicago-O'Hare International Airport
Distance from hotel: 18 mi.
Drive time: 35-60 min.
Directions: Follow signs for I-190 out of airport. Take I-190 to I-90/94 east (Kennedy Expressway). Take I-90/94 to Monroe Street exit, turn left on Monroe Street (East) , Approximately 8 blocks to The Palmer House Hilton. Hotel is on the right.
Chicago Midway Airport
Distance from hotel: 12 mi.
Drive time: 30-45 min.
Directions: North on Cicero Avenue. Take Stevenson Expressway (I-55) Northeast to Kennedy Expressway (I-90) West. Exit Monroe Street, turn right (East), 8 blocks to The Palmer House Hilton. Hotel is on the right.
How do I get from the airport to the Palmer House Hilton?
Taxi fare is approximately $40 from the Chicago-O'Hare International Airport and about $30 from the Chicago Midway Airport. Both airports also have shuttle and bus services.
Will there be parking at the hotel?
The Palmer House Hilton offers valet parking for $75 per day. Self-parking is also available at 55 East Monroe Street across from the hotel for $52 per day. Please refer to Palmer House Hotel Parking for further details and pricing.
