"Attending the 13th ICEM Meeting was an enriching and unique experience. These were days of immersion in mutagenesis that, in addition to expanding scientific knowledge, were inspiring for students who, like me, want to grow more and more in the area. I was delighted with how the conference took place in a light and relaxed way, with professional, cultural, and personal enrichment. Dinners at tourist spots in the city allowed getting to know Ottawa and its culture better, as well as scientists from different countries. In the poster presentation, I was able to explain the results obtained so far in the master's degree, listen to advice and praise from scientists. In addition to contributing to the work and indicating that we are on the right path, I was able to expand the network and exchange contact with experienced researchers. It is important to point out that funding the travel of students from emerging countries, like me, with the Hollaender Travel Award, made all this possible. In this way, I was able to experience and breathe mutagenesis for days, visualizing how science should be: united and bringing people together."
